hoof diseaseIt is one of the four most common diseases in cattle. In cattle hoof disease, hoof rot and hoof deformation are the most common. Regular hoof repair can effectively prevent cattle hoof disease, protect the health of cattle. Traditional hoof repair is mainly the use of hoof repair knife and other tools for hoof repair, at present some places in the country is still in use."Planer" and other tools for hoof repair. However, no matter what kind of hoof repair method, we should pay attention to the following aspects:

1. Timing and PeriodicHoovesEvery year in the spring and autumn of the whole herd census or dry milk and after calving, repair hoof once.
2, accurately judge the hoof to prevent excessive cutting, front hoof length about7.5-8.5cm, about long after the hoof toe8-9cm, the thickness of the bottom of the hoof is about5-7Centimeters.
3. Cut the inner toe as little as possible to make the inner toe as high as possible and make the two toes equal in height. When the cow stands, the hoof surface should be at an appropriate angle to the phalanges and long axis.
4. The hoof bottom should be inclined to the shaft side
That is, the shaft side is more concave, in the back half of the toe, the closer to the toe gap, the greater the inclination should be.
5. To remove the cutin lesion, the rear of the toe should be cut as low as possible, the loose cutin at the bulb of the hoof and the hoof wall should be removed, the cutin edge should be thinned, and the transition should be smooth. If the protrusion is obvious and the base is narrow, the granulation tissue can be removed entirely with a knife.
6. Cattle with Lameness
When repairing hoof, the diseased hoof should be pruned first. As one limb is claudication, the lateral toe of the healthy limb must bear excessive weight. As the affected toe often reduces the weight or does not bear the weight, the weight of the healthy limb will continue. In order to ensure the good condition of healthy limbs, functional hoof repair should be carried out.
If the limp is serious and the healthy limbs cannot be lifted normally, the sick cattle should be placed in a clean, dry and soft ground feeding environment, which will accelerate the recovery of the disease. When the limp is relieved, the healthy limbs will be repaired as soon as possible. If a few days or a week after the hoof repair, limp does not improve significantly but worsens, the relevant toe should be examined in detail.
7. Hoof repair time
It should be arranged after the backslurry of the land and before the rainy season. Premature hoof repair because the temperature is low, hoof cutin is hard, hoof repair is too difficult; Hooves are repaired too late, it is hot and rainy, it is not easy to care after repair, and it is easy to be infected.
Cattle with hoof disease should be fed in a clean and dry enclosure, and the hoof should be kept clean to reduce the chance of infection.
